Our parents in Sioux Falls now know the big news.
We told Mom & the family on Saturday when we got together for Christopher's Birthday. He opened his presents & then I gave Mom & Dad a gift "just because". Mom opened the card, which had a picture of our pregnancy test and an announcement... "You're going to be grandparents". Dad opened a DVD we bought... "Father of the Bride, Part 2". We got him the first one when we got engaged and joked that they'd know what was coming if we got them the second one.
Mom cried... immediately! It took Dad a second to figure it out so Mom passed him the card. It was all priceless.
But the best part was probably when Brent showed up after dinner. They gave him all of Christopher's birthday cards to read & put the announcement card on the bottom of the stack. He read it and thought it was a joke from Chris & his girlfriend but didn't really understand it, so he laughed and played like it was funny... yet he didn't get the joke. We filled him in that it was really from Bill & I and that we are pregnant. It was really the best "real" joke all night!
On Sunday we went to dinner with Tom & Rose and shared the news with them. Got them a "Grandparents" photo album and the same card. They're both estatic! It's about time we had some good news on that side of the family... and the timing was great as Tom had another chemotherapy treatment the next day. Some positive news to help him get through the day.
