I may be from Minnesota, but I’ve never really followed the Minnesota Vikings. I think I could count the number of games I’ve been to on one hand. Just not a huge football fan. But Bill is a huge fan, regardless of the team’s record. So, when he got offered some tickets, we jumped at the chance to go and made a day trip out of it. Busha came over early Sunday morning to watch the kids and we hit the road, drove to the cities, hopped on the light rail with Bill’s co-worker, and took in the game.
I was fairly confused with what the guy in the picture below was going to do with that big contraption. But it turned out he was some retired player who decided to show up in his sweatsuit to blow a giant horn for a couple of seconds during the pregame. Okay… moving on.
I found it somewhat humorous that we drove all this way to get away for the day and while we left South Dakota, South Dakota didn’t want to leave us alone. The Dome was all done up in ORANGE – which really stands out against a sea of purple, by the way – to advertise the state’s pheasant hunting. Great Places, Great Faces. Hey, shoot a bird while you’re around. lol
We sat behind some Canadians – who were hilarious, okay, one of them was massively drunk, but that made him that much more obnoxious. Some were Vikings fans and the drunk one was a Saints fan. They were from different parts of Canada but apparently would meet up when they can at games in the Midwest.
I sure hope Aubrey said yes!
Forget the team, this is what I really came to see. ever since the roof fell at the Dome, I’ve wanted to come check it out. Isn’t it beautiful. Now if only there was a team who wanted to play here!
So, the Vikings lost against the Saints – which, I”m pretty sure there was some sort of bounty put on some of the Vikings players the way they were going after them. (Just Kidding! You and I both know I’m really posting this in March… after Bounty Gate came out. It just makes looking back at this game that much more interesting) Time to hit the road and get back to Sioux Falls. It’s another one of those trips where you spend more time in the car than in Minneapolis. But the change in scenery is totally worth it
So, since the cat’s out of the bag about when I’m posting this, there’s another funny story to share. As I’m taking photos with my little point and shoot Cannon camera, I out of the blue, mentioned, “hey, just think how great these photos would be with a big digital camera.”
I was totally joking. In fact, I hadn’t thought about or mentioned wanting a camera for longer than I can remember. Well, two weeks later, I opened my Christmas present to find the most beautiful, big digital Cannon Rebel T3i. He apparently had already ordered it when we went on the trip… it may have actually been in the house at the time. SKOL!
