The kids decided this year they wanted to paint their pumpkins instead of carving them. So I pulled out some craft paints and let them go to town. I made some paint smocks out of an old t-shirt… and would you believe they didn’t get a speck of paint on them!
It wasn’t long before there were MULTIPLE layers of paint on the pumpkins and the plate I used as their paint pallet. I almost wish I could have framed IT. The colors looked pretty cool the way they were dipping into the paint.
We had to remember to turn the pumpkins a couple times to make sure they got paint on each side.
Noah got very serious here. Apparently painting pumpkins takes concentration and attention to detail!
We suggested they paint a face on at least one side of the pumpkin to give it some character and then my little artists were done. When their masterpieces dried the next day, we took them to the front step to put the on display. It actually worked great because then we didn’t have pumpkins lit while we went trick-or-treating in my brother’s neighborhood.
