I’m so proud of my brother, Brent, for graduating from the University of South Dakota’s Beacom School of Business. His class had the highest exit exam test results in the history of the school! What a great accomplishment. We were lucky enough to be able to attend the ceremony in Vermillion and cheer him on.
The speaker for the ceremony was South Dakota Supreme Court Chief Justice David Gilbertson (fourth person from the left above).
CJ, as we called him at KELO, gave a top 10 list as part of his speech, but I can’t remember the theme. Then just as Brent was to walk across the stage, the lady in front of me stood up. GRRRRR!
Thank goodness I was able to recover.
The only thing that would have made all of this any better….
Was if he graduated from SDSU. LOL! Go Jacks!
Then it was time to high-tail it back to Sioux Falls for our next event… Alexis’ Christmas program! The Day Care teachers packed all the adults into the classroom on tiny toddler chairs so we could hear them all sing.
They started with a moment of silence to remember all the little children and adults shot and killed in a school shooting on Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newton, CT. It was very touching and a reminder of just how precious life is.
We love the teachers at Alexis’ pre-school and the kids love going there. The girls are just so wonderful about guiding the kids through their lessons and helping them grasp new concepts. I find it amazing that they’re able to get a dozen 4 and 5 year olds to learn a handful of songs and then sing them in unison. It was adorable!
As we were waving to Alexis, a set of parents behind us said, “Oh, your daughter’s Alexis? She’s the one sending love notes home with our son.” We had a good laugh since we all knew the teachers had to be up to something considering the kids can’t make out words unless you tell them which letter comes next.
Up next – Brent’s Graduation Open House! MMMMM… Cake!
Brent had a great group of people visit… some high school friends, long-time family friends, Uncle Mark and cousin Brian came from Minneapolis, and of course, all of us!
The kids had fun tearing apart Auntie Carissa’s decorating job. Good thing the sign was out of their reach!
I also had her take a quick family photo of the four of us. Would you believe it took 50 some photos before we could got everyone looking at the camera and smiling! Now time to get Christmas cards out! Yikes!
