Christmas In The Cities

As part of our Polish tradition, we got to spend Christmas Eve at my mom’s parent’s place to celebrate the Wagelia.  It’s a meatless Polish meal that’s common among Polish families.  My mom is, as we like to say, a purebred, which makes us kids half-bloods.

Even as our families continue to grow, we all seem to fit into my grandparent’s house… some eat in the dining room, some in the kitchen and the rest of us kids typically get around a card table in the living room.

Then after the dishes are done, which is a lot quicker these days with the dishwasher than when the ladies used to hand-wash them, we all pick a spot in the living room to share gifts.

We also get good laughs sharing funny videos we come across online.  The funniest part, though, is how many people it brings to tears!

After relaxing for a while, we usually go to the 9 p.m. Christmas mass but I knew the kids were not going to make it through so Bill and I stayed and cleaned up the house for Busha and waited up for them to return.
