Snow, Sun, And Ice

We had an interesting end of winter.  We thought it was going to end with a decent amount of snow as it really started to pile up.  The kids had a blast playing with their kid-sized shovels after the storm on February 22!

And then it was gone at the end of March and we had decently warm weather… warm enough to take the bikes out and climb on the rocks north of our development.

But just more than a week later, the ice came… and covered EVERYTHING.  Our poor trees bowed to the ground.  The plants and lawn ornaments became ice figurines.

What a way to start April! We were very lucky that we only lost part of a tree in the back yard.  Bill took the time to go out and break the ice off the trees as it started to melt.  We didn’t know if that was going to help or hurt them, but it seemed to work.  Now we’ll just have to wait and see how it affects the rest of the plants in the landscaping.
