When my parents moved out of their house, they gave me back this. The desk my Grandparents gave me for my 16th birthday. I used it through high school and then Carissa used it when I moved out of the house. The olive green paint was actually pretty at the time, but I think it’s time for some change. Not to mention this doesn’t match ANYTHING in my house. :o)
I was a bit apprehensive about sanding it down but with the right tools, it was actually pretty slick. The paint on it was REALLY thin and the wood is pretty soft, so I had to be careful not to take the wood with it. But after about half an hour, it was sanded!
Then primed… and sanded again. And then I pulled out our new paint sprayer with the color. We found out the tip was the wrong size… after I sprayed 95% of it, of course. It was spitting globs at times and wasn’t supposed to. But we made it work and added new hardware. And…
…TA DA!!!
It’s called Elephant Grey and has a hint of purple to it. The desk is now next to my bed and actually has a computer on it so I can work more on blogging at night. Sorry, that plan didn’t exactly work out… yet. But we’ll get there.
Stay tuned for more. I’m in “Catch-Up” mode!
