My little girl is going to school. She’s about to make new friends who will be by her side for the next 13 years. She’s about to learn everything she’s ever wanted to learn.
The only thing I can’t give her today, is a ride on a school bus, which is the one thing she’s asked for nearly every day for the past 3 years. Every time we saw a school bus, she’d ask when she was going to get to ride one to school. We open enrolled. Her school does not have bussing.
But who needs a bus, right? This is going to be an AWESOME day! My little girl is going to school!
Noah was also very proud for his big sister. He knows in time it will be his turn and he’s just as excited as she is. Alexis is going to the same school as her cousin, Tristan. They live right across the street. So it made sense to get together on the first day and experience it all together.
Even little Claire saw off the older kids! Too cute!
We found out at Kindergarten orientation that Alexis’ friend at day care was in her class. That’s all she talked about for weeks when someone asked her about going to school.
We were fortunate that the school allows parents into the classroom on the first day. I guess not everyone gets to do that. Mr. Rost greeted us all at Mrs. Rost’s classroom to tell us where to go and what to do. Alexis found her seat at the table with her new friends and Mrs. Rost gave her a first assignment.
Dad gave her a hug and then she told us to leave. She looked at us as if asking, “why are you still here?” And that was that.
I asked for a quick picture with her and Dad and I were headed out the door.
My baby is a kindergartner. It’s going to be great school year!
