The kids decided they wanted to paint AND carve pumpkins this year so we invited Tristan, Claire and Henry over to help them make a mess. Claire dug right in!
Tristan had a HUGE pumpkin to cover & got right to work. We found last year that acrylic craft paint worked pretty well and the kids cleaned up pretty well too. So we pulled out all the fun colors and let them pick their pallet.
I think we were a bit more successful though at getting them to use their colors wisely so the pumpkins didn’t end up covered in black and their creativity shined through.
Even Henry put his artistic stamp on a baby pumpkin.
Turn the pumpkin upside down, stamp a white footprint and when you turn it over and give it eyes, you have ghosts! Boo!
We had to give the pumpkins a good 24 hours to dry before letting the kids dig into them. Within a matter of minutes, they were up to their elbows in pumpkin guts! Alexis didn’t like the texture – which didn’t surprise me considering she also didn’t like frosting on her hands from her first birthday cake – so she stuck to the spoon. But Noah was more than willing to get dirty! He’s such a boy.
